After much hard work mixing, taste testing and eye-watering kitchen nights, Moe Mountain's Original Hotsauce was born. The ‘faint of taste buds’ should beware; Moe Mountain’s is not your average hot sauce. This unique blend of natural ingredients like Apple Cider Vinegar and ‘good for you’ spices like cumin and cocoa powder are sure to set your taste buds on fire. But the star ingredient, by far is the legendary bhut jolokia pepper, a.k.a. ghost chili pepper, touted as one of the hottest chili peppers on the planet. Like we said, “It’s kinda hot”.
Martin Olsen, a Brooklyn, New York native, was inspired to start making hot sauce in 2004 after ‘grab-bagging’ a hot sauce kit at a holiday party. The rest is history. After experimenting to make the perfect hot sauce from real and quality ingredients, like apple cider vinegar, the recipe was trademarked, bottled and is now loved for its uniquely spicy, hot and smoky flavor. His company, Moe Mountain Heat, Inc. was founded in 2014. The name of company and hot sauce, "Moe Mountain” was chosen by Olsen as tribute to the unique history of Upper Greenwood Lake, New Jersey, where Olsen now lives and serves as a volunteer firefighter for the past 3 years. Olsen not only supports the Upper Greenwood Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Company 5 as a fireman, but has also supported them through various fundraising efforts.
