Our Story

​Moe Mountain Heat Inc. was founded in 2014, but the company’s story started
long before that. Often eating bland, boring foods – always adding the same big
company brand sauces to spice things up- the owner and full time “chili head”
still wasn’t fully happy with the outcome.

You would get more or less mouth burning heat, sure, but most of the sauces lacked any real flavor to compliment the food itself. In 2004 Christmas, he got his own “hot sauce making kit” as a gift and the spark was lit. Instead of buying a sauce after another he decided to come up with his own recipe.

For years he was making hot sauce, not just for himself but to friends, family members, and co-workers until one stood out so much, people would be asking more of it to have. Today we call that sauce “Moe Mountain Hot Sauce- Original”. At the time being a volunteer firefighter at Upper Greenwood Lake Company 5, bringing hot sauce for the other fellow firefighters and encouraged to start a real company- he heard the history around the area they were protecting from a Senior Fire Dept. Chief. Back in the day, Upper Greenwood Lake was called “Moe Mountain” after its owner Ira W. Moe. To
honor that history and his friend, so is our company.

For that same reason, and values the company has- on every bottle we encourage people to support their local volunteers, like they encouraged us. Since 2014 Moe Mountain Heat Inc. has won 19 awards (and counting), grown to be a known local company, and has served heat and flavor to hundreds of people near and far. Not bad for a guy that started with just Bed, Bath and Beyond hot sauce making kit and a lot of passion for tasty
food.
